Another really busy week gone and another ahead. We had a fantastic achievement this week form Grace in Year 5. As part of the Urdu art competition Grace had won the Flint area and therefore went through to the national finals. There she got 3rd place which is a considerable achievement considering the number of schools that enter. Respect Achievement Achieve respect! Da Iawn indeed.
This week is the last before the half term break. We have a full week ahead. Mr Jamil will be taking the children to the festival of sport on Tuesday. On Wednesday and Thursday we have some special visitors to school. My thanks to Mrs Bonnett who has arranged for the children to see and hear from a consultant from Hospital about his job and basic first aid. In addition Mrs Bonnett will be talking about her job as a midwife. Should be fun! Also some pupils from the Alun will be talking to the Year 6 pupils about tobacco.
I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs Rosemary Jones this week and she will be a great loss to the community. Our thoughts are with her husband and family at this time.
Our community day is running up well and thanks to the PTA for organising our end! We have a non uniform day on Thursday. This is linked to the Red, White and Green of Wales in preparation for the national Eisteddfod next week. Of course my best wishes to all of the girls that are taking part and we will all have our fingers crossed for a great week, with, hopefully, a TV appearance form Ysgol Owen Jones.
Finally my best wishes to Jan the cook who will be off for a period of time owing to illness. We all wish her the very best and hope she is back soon. As stated in the letter on Friday, please make sure the menus are completed or the children will run the risk of not getting their preferred meal choice,
Over and Out!
