Last week was a fantastic week for so many of our children. We had a visit form the police to talk about drugs and alcohol. Class 4 also received a 'growing up' talk and, to their credit, they were very mature about it. Class 2 and 3A (year 2's) had a fab visit to the Jambori in Connha's Quay. The children really enjoy the Welsh Jambori and had a great time.
Also last week, we had our drama club presentation of Joseph and his Dreamcoat. So much work had gone into the production and it was, as always, wonderful to see the children perform with such confidence in front of the other children and then parents later on! (should apologise for the brief visit from Elvis, should have known better!) My thanks to Mrs Norbury, Mrs Jones for the drama practices and costumes and to Miss Simpson for all of the props.
On Friday we had another successful Sports Day. It was a lovely afternoon, FINALLY! and we were able to have a good afternoon of friendly competition. Thank you all for showing up in such numbers. Yesterday we managed to doge the showers for the Community Day, whilst it was not ideal to have it in school, it was still a good day all round. My thanks to Sue Davies, Sue Collinge, Rachel Southern,Kelly Francis Rachel Turner and Sue Davies in the main for their sterling efforts. If I have missed anybody then sorry! not intentional
So next week is far quieter. We will be having an ESDGC week where we focus on global citizenship and also money. In addition we plan to have our own mini olympics on Wednesday .We fully intend to have a good clear next week and would ask you to send in some carrier bags for the children to take home books from last year. We had intended to keep some books for an impending inspection, however it did not arrive. I am virtually sure there will be one soon and to this end we will keep some books for evidence. I will write to those parents concerned.
The school reports will be out tomorrow along with the national test results. There will be an opportunity to discuss the report with your class teacher on Wednesday, this should be purely to discuss the report and you will need to indicate a time. Miss Gould is away on Wednesday and I will inform you of an alternative in tomorrows newsletter.
So for the final time from me, thank you to all of you who have supported me during my time at Ysgol Owen Jones.
