May I also take this opportunity to thank everyone for the support and understanding with regards our new ‘Breakfast Club’ and before school routines. The changes were made to ensure the school was not running at a loss with regards the child care element and to also ensure we were adequately supervising the pupils. The new systems are working well and as a result the playground is much calmer before the school day which ensures the pupils are ready for the school day ahead.
We have had some great successes from a sporting point of view recently. The football team have continued to do well and beat Westwood School last week to reach the next round of the Tom Roberts Flintshire Knockout cup. They have three league games remaining in which they are still unbeaten. The Indoor Athletics team performed brilliantly in the small school competition, coming second in the initial competition and then third in the finals. The chess team also had a great victory against Golftyn school, a super achievement against such a big school. A big well done to all involved.
I have some good news to share! The Eco- Committee raised £94.92 from ‘Operation Acorn’ after the acorns that were collected were all weighed. The Eco-committee did a great job sharing the information with the rest of the school and publishing the activity. Not only did ‘Operation Acorn’ help the environment it also taught the pupils about the importance of acorns and how to recognise different acorns. I certainly learnt something!! A big thank you to Mrs Warrington and Mrs Tocque for supporting the Eco-committee and to all the pupils and parents who collected the acorns. We look forward to the new task on the Eco action plan.
We are now planning ahead for our Christmas activities, particularly the concerts and I am sure you are looking forward to watching the children perform in what are always special events. As I am sure you are aware the Foundation Phase will be performing on Tuesday 12th December at Edith Banks Hall and the Key Stage 2 pupils will be performing at Northop Church on Wednesday 13th December. Tickets are on sale, with each family entitled to 4 tickets for the Foundation Phase performance and 4 tickets for the Key Stage 2 performance. Any remaining tickets will be on sale from December 4th.
I will be holding the first ‘Parents Committee’ meeting of the year this coming Thursday 30th November. These meeting are of great use to the school as it is an opportunity to gain parental thoughts and opinions about the different aspects of the school. I hope to see as many of you there as possible.
Enjoy the rest of your week, I will update you again soon!
