Welcome back to the new term. I hope you all had a restful Easter. We have started a very busy term last week and with a bang!
Some more success with our Eisteddfod entries. A high level of children won the Mold area competition. a full list will be in the newsletter. In addition, these children went forward to the area final and we had a few children then who have moved forward to the National Eisteddfod, which again is great news. Congratulations to Amelia, Nerys, Stephanie and Grace who all passed their Grade 2 Cornet exams. Stephaine and Nerys both scored 141/140 out of 150 !Amazing.
I sent a letter out last week about the new classes for September. I trust that you all had a copy and that it is clear. Any questions please ask!
The new headteacher appointment is moving forward and hopefully their will be an appointment in the near future.
On the newsletter last week was a list of dates for the term. Again, please have a look at the website to make sure you have all the relevant dates.
The national test will take place in the week beginning the 2nd of May (Bank Holiday!) and will start on the 3rd. Can I remind parents about absences. We had a poor half term last with attendance and we are now around 96%. This is 1% less than our usual average and is as a result of some illness and some long-term illness. I would remind parents that taking your child out of school for holidays during term time has a detrimental effect on their work. Long periods without school can put children back in their learning. There is no 'right' to holidays in term time and I would urge you to please not take your children out in term time.
Finally for tonight the PTA will be holding a bingo night on Thursday at 5.30 in the hall, please come along to support. The PTA are also looking for more members, so please get in touch if you have an interest. Also, the PTA have agreed to fund some benches and picnic tables for the yard. This will help to allow those children who don't like 'running around' to have some quiet time to read, work or just chat.
Look out for the newsletters tomorrow and I will speak to you all next week.
