In order for the pupils to reach their full potential we ask pupils to complete short tasks each week to support the work they are doing in class. These tasks also helps parents support their children and see the progress they are making.
Every pupil in the school will be given a book / books to read each week at home. We asked that parents listen to their child read and sign the relevant part of their home-school reading record along with a short comment if they wish to do so.
During the week each child will take part in guided reading sessions wit their class teacher, whilst also having the opportunity to read to a teaching assistant or parent helper.
In years 1 to 6 the pupils will be provided with weekly spelling to practise. Over the course of two weeks, the pupils will focus on a particular spelling rule along with their ability to spell key high frequency words.
To help the pupils retain the spellings and the rules they have been focusing on in school they will be asked to complete a 'Look, Cover, Write, Check' spelling sheet each week. One week will focus on the spelling rule and the other week will focus on the high frequency words.
